Riudor de Bages is a small municipality in the comarca of Bages, in central Catalonia. This 1 Peseta note is one of hundreds of emergency fractional issues produced by Catalan local councils during the early years of the Civil War, when the Republican zone suffered an acute shortage of hard coin — silver and copper had largely disappeared from circulation through hoarding and wartime disruption. The Generalitat de Catalunya authorized municipalities to fill the gap themselves, which produced a sprawling, uncoordinated series of local paper.

Turró catalogues this as #2172, placing it firmly within that documented corpus of Catalan municipal emissions.
