Ayuntamiento de Priego is a small municipality in the province of Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, and this 1 Peseta note belongs to the vast category of Spanish Civil War-era local emergency currency — issued by town councils across Republican-held territory from 1936 onward when coins vanished from circulation almost overnight due to hoarding and wartime disruption. Hundreds of Spanish municipalities resorted to their own paper solutions, most printed on whatever was locally available, which accounts for the thick card stock.
The Gari Mon reference places this firmly within the documented municipal issues, though survival rates for small-town Cuenca pieces are low.
