1 Peseta Premià

One of hundreds of wartime emergency notes — known collectively as "paper de guerra" — issued by Catalan municipalities during the Spanish Civil War after the Republican government's collapse of the conventional money supply prompted local councils to print their own fractional currency. Premià de Mar's Consell Municipal was among the smaller issuers, and the Turró catalogue documents only a handful of surviving denominations from this locality.

Printing was handled locally by Imprenta Greco A.G., a small commercial press rather than a specialist security printer, which is exactly what you'd expect from a coastal town of a few thousand inhabitants scrambling to keep market transactions functional in 1937.
