Opmerkingen

Oristà is a small municipality in the Osona comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of other Catalan and Republican-controlled towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 when the withdrawal of silver and copper coins from circulation created an acute shortage of small change. These local issues — collectively called "moneda local de necessitat" — were authorized under the Generalitat de Catalunya's emergency monetary decrees and varied wildly in quality, quantity, and survival rates.

Imprenta El Secretariat Català in Barcelona produced notes for numerous small municipalities simultaneously, which means the printing is competent but the paper stock is thin and prone to fold damage along the horizontal center — a known weakness in this run.
