1 Peseta Ondara

Ondara is a small town in the Marina Alta comarca of Valencia, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, its local council resorted to issuing its own emergency fractional currency when metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation. The Republican government authorized this practice broadly from 1936 onward, but implementation was entirely local — the quality, design, and even the paper used varied dramatically from one ayuntamiento to the next.

Gari Montllor's cataloguing of these Valencian municipals remains the primary reference, and the 1034-C designation suggests multiple varieties exist for Ondara's 1 Peseta emission. Series letters or minor typographic differences between varieties are worth examining closely on any example.
