Olost de Lluçanès is a small municipality in the comarca of Osona, and like hundreds of other Catalan towns it issued its own emergency fractional currency during the Spanish Civil War after the Republican government's decree of 1936 effectively collapsed the supply of small-denomination coinage. These local issues — collectively known as moneda local or moneda de guerra — were produced by municipalities, trade unions, and cooperatives with whatever printing resources were at hand, which is why the card stock on many Turró-catalogued pieces varies so dramatically in quality and weight.
Turró 1695 is among the more obscure examples from the Lluçanès plateau. Documentation on print runs and issuing dates for this specific ajuntament is sparse.
