Motril is a coastal town in Granada province, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities, it issued its own fractional paper money during the Civil War period when coins vanished from circulation almost entirely. The Garicano-Moragas reference number places this firmly within the documented Andalusian municipal issues, but survival rates for Motril's series are notably low, likely reflecting the town's turbulent passage between Republican and Nationalist control during 1937.
