Nueva Aurora was a libertarian collectivist community established in Molinos, Teruel, during the anarchist social revolution that followed the July 1936 military uprising. Like dozens of similar collectives in Aragon, it issued its own local scrip because the war and the collapse of normal commerce had effectively stripped the region of usable currency. These notes functioned internally — accepted by the collective's members for goods and services within its own economic circuit, and worthless beyond it.
Teruel province saw some of the war's most destructive fighting, and the survival rate for Aragonese collective scrip is low. Molinos issues are among the scarcer entries in the Gari Mon catalog.
