备注

Mequinenza is a small mining town in Aragon where coal extraction dominated local life, and by 1937 the Republican zone was fractured enough that individual municipalities were printing their own emergency notes to keep daily commerce moving. The Consejo Municipal — effectively the local administration under wartime conditions — authorized this issue when the regular banking system had broken down and coin had vanished from circulation entirely, hoarded or melted.

Imp. Pagés in Lérida produced notes for several Catalan and Aragonese municipalities during this period, making them one of the more prolific local printers of Civil War emergency currency. Mequinenza itself was later submerged beneath a reservoir in the 1960s following the construction of a dam — the original town no longer exists.
