1 Peseta Masdenverge

Masdenverge is a small municipality in the Montsià comarca of Tarragona, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency when the Republic's small change evaporated from circulation after 1936. These municipal notes — known collectively as paper moneda local — were produced under the authority of the Generalitat's decree permitting local councils to print their own emergency issues, a measure born of necessity when silver and copper coinage was hoarded or melted almost immediately after the war began.

Turró catalogues this as #1463, placing it within a well-documented but vast series. Surviving examples from villages this size are genuinely scarce — print runs were small and redemption after the war was either chaotic or simply never completed.
