Lliçà de Munt is a small municipality in the Vallès Oriental comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of other Spanish towns it resorted to issuing its own emergency fractional currency during the Civil War — the result of a nationwide coin shortage that emptied circulation almost overnight after July 1936. These locally issued notes, collectively termed "moneda de paper municipal," were authorized under a 1936 decree from the Generalitat de Catalunya, which gave town councils the legal cover to print whatever they needed.
Turró catalogues this emission as #1347. Survivors in any condition are thinly traded outside Catalan regional collections.
