Llardecans is a small municipality in the Segrià comarca of Lleida, and like hundreds of Catalan and other Republican-held towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 when coin shortages made small transactions nearly impossible. The Consell Municipal — operating under the authority of the Generalitat de Catalunya's decree permitting local money — commissioned this piece from Imprenta Sol in Lleida, one of the regional printers that handled a significant volume of these municipal issues across the province.

Turró catalogues over 1,400 distinct local issues from this period; Llardecans' single-denomination emission is among the more modest, suggesting limited local need or a short window of actual use before Republican authority in the region collapsed in early 1938.
