La Selva del Camp is a small municipality in the Camp de Tarragona comarca, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns it issued its own emergency paper currency during the Civil War years after the collapse of reliable coin supply. These hyper-local notes — often produced on whatever card stock or heavy paper was available locally — were technically illegal tender outside the issuing municipality's boundaries, which means circulation was extremely confined and survival rates are genuinely unpredictable: some are common, others vanishingly rare depending entirely on how many the local ajuntament bothered to print and redeem.
Turró's catalog remains the primary reference for this material, and 2321 falls well into the dense middle of the Catalan municipal series.
