| Opmerkingen |
Sant Carles de la Ràpita is a small fishing port at the southern end of the Ebro Delta, and like hundreds of Catalan and Valencian municipalities in 1937, its ajuntament issued emergency small-change notes when Republican-zone metallic coinage essentially vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. These municipal emissions were authorized under the economic disorder of the Civil War and were theoretically redeemable locally, though in practice their acceptance beyond the issuing town was uncertain at best.
The dry seal rather than an ink stamp was the authenticating device of choice for many small municipalities that lacked proper printing infrastructure. Turró catalogues this emission under #2057.
