La Manresana is a small municipality in the comarca of Anoia, Catalonia, and like hundreds of similar villages it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the Republic's monetary system fragmented in the summer of 1936. The Grafos print shop in Barcelona was collectivized by its workers early in the conflict and took on a wave of these small municipal commissions — the imprint here is a direct artifact of that anarcho-syndicalist reorganization of the printing trades.
The handwritten signatures and municipal stamp were the only meaningful authentication mechanism. Turró catalogs this as #1424.
