| 备注 |
La Granja d'Escarp is a small municipality in the Lleida province of Catalonia, and this 1 Peseta note is one of hundreds of emergency fractional currency pieces — coneguts as "moneda de paper" or paper money of necessity — issued by Catalan municipalities during the Spanish Civil War after the Republican government failed to maintain an adequate supply of small-denomination metallic coinage. The hoarding of coins and the breakdown of normal commerce from 1936 onward forced even tiny townships to print their own scrip.
The thick card format was a practical choice when proper banknote paper was unavailable at the local level. The official stamp is what separated legitimate municipal scrip from forgeries — though the stamp itself varied in quality from town to town.
