Juneda is a small municipality in Les Garrigues, Lleida, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency paper money in 1937 when coinage effectively disappeared from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. These local issues, generically called *moneda local* or *moneda de necessitat*, were authorised under Republican decree but designed and printed entirely at the municipal level, often by local print shops with no banknote experience whatsoever.

Turró catalogued over 1,400 such issues from Catalonia alone. Juneda's is among the more obscure small-town entries in that corpus.
