Reverse description The quartered coat of arms of Spain as used during the Second Republic is depicted centrally, featuring the castle of Castile and the lion of León in the upper quarters, with the bars of Aragon and the chains of Navarre in the lower quarters. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown and flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each bearing a banner inscribed with PLUS (left) and ULTRA (right), referencing the Spanish imperial motto. The denomination UNA PESETA is inscribed along the lower portion of the field in bold raised lettering. A dentilated border encircles the entire design.
