1 Peseta Hostoles

Hostoles is a small municipality in the Garrotxa region of Girona, and like hundreds of Catalan and Republican-held towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency paper currency in 1937 when metal coinage effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply not reaching rural areas. These locally issued notes, collectively catalogued by Andreu Turró, were authorized under the Generalitat de Catalunya's emergency provisions but produced entirely at the municipal level, which means print quality, paper stock, and design consistency varied enormously from one town to the next.

Hostoles' issues are among the less-documented in the Turró catalogue. Production quantities are unrecorded.
