Higueruela is a small municipality in Albacete province, and like dozens of Castilian towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional paper currency in 1937 when Republican-zone coinage effectively disappeared from circulation. These local emergency issues — broadly grouped under the term moneda local de necesidad — were printed by whatever commercial press was available, in this case Imprenta Albuger, a local Albacete printer with no specialized banknote production capability.
The absence of a Gari Monetary catalogue number suggests this piece remains inadequately documented — possibly a late discovery, a variant, or simply one that slipped through the primary survey.
