| Opmerkingen |
Herencia is a small Castilla-La Mancha municipality, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council was forced to issue its own fractional paper money when Republican authorities failed to supply adequate coinage. The nationwide small-change crisis of 1937 spawned thousands of these emergency municipals — called "billetes locales" — each with its own authorization stamps and serial conventions, which is precisely what makes Gari Mon cataloging so essential here.
The B suffix in the Gari Mon reference indicates a distinct variety within the Herencia 1 Peseta type, likely differentiated by overprint, serial format, or stamp placement. These municipal emissions were produced under improvised conditions and quality control was nonexistent.
