| 正面描述 | Printed in dark blue ink on a stippled underprint ground, the note carries the issuer's name 'AJUNTAMENT DE GUISSONA' in bold capitals across the top, underlined by a ruled border. The central field bears the denomination 'UNA PESSETA' in large display type flanked by the numeral '1' on each side, above the mandatory circulation clause in smaller script. A handstamped circular control mark is faintly visible at centre, with the serial number prefixed 'No' and the issue date 'MARÇ DEL 1937' positioned along the lower margin. |

Guissona is a small market town in the Segarra comarca of Lleida, and like hundreds of Catalan municipalities during the Civil War, its ajuntament issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 when Republican Spain suffered an acute shortage of small-denomination coinage. These local issues — collectively catalogued in the thousands across Catalonia alone — filled a genuine transactional gap at the street level while the Republican government struggled to maintain a functioning monetary supply under wartime conditions.
Turró's catalogue remains the definitive reference for these Catalan municipal emissions, and the 1224 assignment places this note well within the densely documented Lleida provincial series.
