| Opmerkingen |
Guadasuar is a small municipality in Valencia province, and like hundreds of similar towns across Republican-held Spain in 1937, its municipal council issued emergency fractional currency after the Civil War had effectively severed normal coin supply chains. The Nationalist blockade and Republican government's inability to maintain smallchange circulation forced local bodies — consells, ayuntamientos, juntas — to print their own. Most of these municipal emissions were produced in tiny quantities on whatever card stock was locally available, which is exactly what the dimensions and composition of this note reflect.
Turró and Gari both catalog this emission, which confirms it as a documented type rather than an improvised curiosity, though survivorship is predictably thin for issues of this scale.
