Opmerkingen

Gérgal is a small municipality in Almería province, and this local emergency note belongs to the wave of privately issued "moneda local" that flooded Republican-held Spain during the Civil War after 1936, when the collapse of small-denomination coinage created an immediate transactional crisis. Town councils, cooperatives, and even individual businesses printed their own scrip simply to keep markets functioning.

The card stock construction is characteristic of many Andalusian municipal issues — paper was scarce, and whatever the local printer had on hand was used. Gari Mon#709-C is the accepted reference, though Gérgal issues are sparsely documented and survival rates for these ultra-local pieces remain poorly tracked.
