Gálvez is a small municipality in Toledo province, and its municipal council issued emergency paper fractional currency during the Spanish Civil War — one of hundreds of local authorities that printed their own notes when Republican-zone coinage disappeared from circulation after 1936. The Consejo Municipal issues from villages of this size were typically produced by whatever printing resources were locally available, often resulting in crude typography and thin security.
These hyper-local Civil War emissions are poorly documented. Many municipalities issued only a single batch, and survival rates are low — not from heavy circulation but because most were redeemed or simply discarded after the war ended and Francoist monetary unification took hold.
