Estiche de Cinca is a village in the Monegros comarca of Aragon — a largely depopulated agricultural zone — and this note belongs to the extraordinary proliferation of hyperlocal emergency currency that swept Republican-held Spain during 1936 and 1937. The collapse of coin circulation after the military uprising forced hundreds of municipalities, trade unions, and local committees to print their own fractional scrip.
