Opmerkingen

Esterri d'Àneu is a small municipality in the Pallars Sobirà comarca of the Pyrenees, and like hundreds of Catalan and Aragonese towns during 1936–37, its local council issued emergency fractional currency after the military uprising caused coin to vanish almost immediately from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply gone. These municipal notes, collectively catalogued as "moneda de necessitat," were authorized under Republican decrees that granted local bodies the right to print low-denomination scrip to keep daily commerce moving.

Turró 969 is one of the more obscure entries in the series. Imprenta Sol in Lleida printed for numerous small councils during this period, which means production quality and paper stock vary considerably across the run.
