| 备注 |
El Toro is a small municipality in Castellón province, Valencia. During the Civil War, the Republican zone experienced a near-total collapse of small-denomination coinage — silver and copper had been hoarded or melted — forcing hundreds of municipalities to print their own emergency paper currency. This note is one of those issues, authorized under the decentralized economic councils that proliferated across Republican-held territory in 1937.
Municipal issues from inland Castellón villages are among the scarcest in the entire Spanish Civil War local currency series. El Toro had a population of only a few hundred at the time, meaning total print runs were correspondingly tiny.
