| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of George Washington, first President of the United States (1789–1797), occupies the central field. The legend "ISLA DE PUERTO RICO" arcs along the upper periphery, with the denomination "UNA PESETA" and date "2009" positioned along the lower periphery. The motto "EN DIOS CREEMOS" and the word "LIBERTAD" appear flanking the portrait, along with the mint initials "PRM". The design closely echoes the style of the United States quarter dollar. |
