| Opmerkingen |
Diezma is a small municipality in the Vega de Granada comarca, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally produced emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after the Republic's small-denomination coinage effectively vanished from circulation. These municipal notes — cartones, vale de necesidad — were produced under wildly inconsistent conditions: some by local printers, others handwritten or rubber-stamped on whatever stock was available. The Gari Montosa catalog documents the Granada province issues with unusual thoroughness, which is the main reason specimens like this surface with any reliable attribution at all.
Survival is genuinely poor for most Granadan municipal issues; wartime paper, damp storage, and deliberate destruction after the Nationalist takeover all took their toll.
