| 正面描述 | Printed in black on blue paper, the face is entirely typographic in layout, with the issuer name 'Alcaldía Republicana' in bold serif lettering at the top, followed by 'CRETAS' in spaced capitals and a manuscript-style serial number beneath a rule. The denomination 'Vale UNA peseta' is set in large display type at the foot of the note. A continuous decorative border of repetitive foliate and ribbon motifs in the letterpress tradition frames the entire design. |

Cretas is a small municipality in the Matarraña comarca of Aragon, and this note is one of hundreds of hyperlocal emergency issues that flooded Republican-held territory during the Spanish Civil War. When the central government's coin supply collapsed — partly from hoarding, partly from the disruption of normal commerce — town councils across Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia printed their own fractional paper to keep local trade moving. The Alcaldía Republicana de Cretas was acting on that same practical necessity.
The Gari Mon variants 572A through C suggest at least three distinguishable states — likely differing in stamp color, ink, or countersignature — which is typical of these municipal issues where quality control was improvised at best.
