Costur is a small inland municipality in Castelló province, Valencia. Like dozens of similarly sized villages during the Spanish Civil War, it issued its own emergency scrip in 1937 after the Republican government's decree authorizing local authorities to produce fractional currency to address the acute shortage of small-denomination coin — metal having been largely hoarded or requisitioned for the war effort.

Gari Mon#569-B suggests a second known type for this municipality, implying at least two distinct emissions. For a village of Costur's size, that alone is worth noting.
