Casinos is a small municipality in the interior of Valencia province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council issued its own emergency small change — the Republican government's inability to maintain a functioning fractional coinage supply forced the problem down to the municipal level. The Turró catalogue documents over a thousand such issuers across the País Valencià alone.

Tip. M. Zamit operated out of neighbouring Meliana, a printer clearly kept busy by the regional demand for these urgently produced pieces. The near-square format and thick stock are typical of the practical constraints of wartime local production, not design choice.
