Комментарии	Cangas de Onís holds a particular place in Spanish history as the first capital of the Asturian kingdom following the Moorish invasion, but the reason this note exists is far more mundane: the chronic small-change shortage that plagued Republican Spain during the Civil War. Municipal governments across Spain — hundreds of them — filled the gap by issuing their own fractional emergency currency when the central supply of coins collapsed after 1936. Cangas de Onís was one of countless Asturian municipalities that did exactly this.
