备注

Benínar is a small village in the province of Almería, Andalusia, and this municipally-issued peseta dates from the Spanish Civil War — the period when hundreds of local councils across Republican-held territory were forced to produce their own emergency fractional currency after the hoarding of coins and the breakdown of centralized supply chains rendered normal commerce impossible. The Consejo Municipal issues from villages of this size are among the most ephemeral objects the conflict produced.

The single signature of J. Maldonado and the official stamp were the only authentication mechanisms the issuing council had at its disposal. Gari Mon catalogues two variants of this denomination; the B suffix here distinguishes it from the A type, differences typically involving stamp color or paper stock.
