| 表面の説明 | Plain typeset note printed in black on cream paper, with a dotted square border forming the perimeter frame. The central text panel carries the issuing authority's name and promise-to-pay legend in a bold serif typeface, with the denomination numeral at the foot. The overall design is characteristic of hastily produced Spanish Civil War municipal emergency issues, relying entirely on letterpress typography without vignettes or ornamental underprint. |

Benigánim is a small town in Valencia, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, its local council stepped in to issue emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage disappeared from circulation almost overnight. The copper and silver had been hoarded, melted, or requisitioned, and the central government's response was too slow for day-to-day commerce at the local level. These consejo municipal notes filled the gap.
At under six centimeters wide, these notes were produced with minimal resources — often a local printer, a rubber stamp, and whatever paper was on hand. Survival rates are low not because of heavy circulation but because nobody thought to preserve them.
