Beniarjó is a small municipality in Valencia's Safor comarca, and like hundreds of other Spanish towns it resorted to locally issued emergency paper during the Civil War when coinage effectively vanished from circulation. The Consejo Municipal — the Republican-controlled local council — issued these notes to keep small transactions functioning. Official stamp as the sole security feature was entirely typical of this tier of Civil War local issue, where the stamp itself, usually applied in violet or blue ink, served as both authentication and authorization in one.
Gari Mon#288-C places this within a documented series, though surviving examples from villages this small are genuinely uncommon — production runs were modest, and notes were often worn to destruction within months.
