Opmerkingen

Begur is a small coastal municipality in the Baix Empordà district of Catalonia, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally printed emergency fractional currency — *moneda de paper* — during the early months of the Civil War after the Republic's silver coinage disappeared from circulation almost overnight in the summer of 1936. The Consell Municipal stepped in as issuer because there was simply nothing else filling the gap at street level.

Turró's cataloguing of these local Catalan issues remains the authoritative reference, and the 346 number places Begur within a well-documented regional sequence, though surviving examples of small-municipality issues from this series are consistently harder to source than their urban counterparts.
