Aldover is a small municipality in the Baix Ebre comarca of Tarragona province, and this note belongs to the sprawling ecosystem of emergency paper money — *moneda de paper* — issued across Republican-controlled Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War. The collapse of small-denomination metallic coinage in circulation, hoarded almost immediately after July 1936, forced hundreds of town councils to print their own scrip. Turró catalogued over a thousand such issues.
The official stamp is the only security measure, which was typical for these hyper-local emissions — the issuing authority's legitimacy rested entirely on municipal recognition, not technical anti-counterfeiting.
