1 Peseta Alcanó

Alcanó is a small municipality in the Terres de l'Ebre region of Catalonia, and like hundreds of other Catalan and Spanish towns, it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the Republic's coin supply collapsed in 1936–37. These local issues — collectively known as paper moneda local or moneda de guerra — were produced under wildly inconsistent conditions, often by local printers with no experience in security printing, and the Ajuntament d'Alcanó was no exception.

Turró's catalog remains the standard reference for this material, and the low sequence number (#76) places Alcanó among the earlier-documented Catalan municipal issues.
