| Obverse description | Cream-colored circular cardboard token bearing black-printed text arranged concentrically within the field. A large violet handstamp displaying the numeral '1' is applied over the original printed design, indicating the new face value. The legend identifies the issuing authority and department, arranged in multiple lines across the face. This piece represents an overstamp on the original 25 Centimos cardboard token (Turró#40), with the new denomination imposed upon the earlier issue during the Spanish Civil War emergency period. |

Aigüestoses del Llobregat — a small municipality in the Berguedà comarca — issued emergency cardboard currency during the Spanish Civil War, when the Republican zone faced a catastrophic shortage of small-denomination coinage. The central government's inability to supply fractional currency forced hundreds of Catalan municipalities to print their own local scrip, legal only within their own borders. These ajuntament emissions were officially sanctioned under a 1937 Generalitat de Catalunya decree that retroactively legitimized what was already widespread practice.
At 48mm, this is an unusually large format for a one-peseta cardboard note, more token than bill.
