正面描述	Bare or lightly draped effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, closely modelled after William Wyon's celebrated Young Head portrait. The legend VICTORIA D.G.BRITANNIAR REG.F.D. is disposed around the periphery in Latin script. The portrait is rendered in a refined neoclassical style consistent with pattern coinage of the period. As a pattern issue, this coin was struck in various metals and with either reeded or plain edge, with total production confined to a very small number of pieces.

This piece predates the final decision by weeks or months; the bronze penny that entered circulation in 1860 rendered all copper submissions obsolete before most were ever formally evaluated.
