Reverse description An enthroned allegorical figure of Britannia is depicted seated in right profile, rendered in a classical style. She holds a long trident upright in her left hand, while her right arm rests upon an oval shield bearing the Union flag. The field is largely plain, with the encircling Latin legend occupying the border, and floral emblems of the constituent nations of the United Kingdom appearing in the lower exergue. Notable varieties exist regarding the placement of colons within the legend and the form of the trident.
