Obverse description The obverse depicts a seated figure of Britannia in classical allegorical style, facing right, helmeted and draped, holding a trident in her right hand and resting her left arm upon a shield. A ship's wheel is visible at her right side, and an olive branch appears to her left, reinforcing maritime and imperial symbolism. The figure is set upon a rocky promontory, rendered in moderate relief. The legend BRITANNIA arcs across the upper field in bold capital letters. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
