正面描述 A draped standing female figure representing Justice occupies the central field, facing slightly left, her right arm raised and holding a balance scale aloft. A ship under sail is depicted in the left middle ground, evoking maritime trade. The surrounding legend AUSTRALIA is inscribed in widely spaced capital letters along the upper periphery, within a beaded border. The overall composition is rendered in a bold, engraved style typical of Australian colonial tradesman's tokens of the 1860s.

附加信息

T.H. Jones & Co. operated a general store in Ipswich during Queensland's early colonial period, when the chronic shortage of small change forced merchants across the Australian colonies to commission their own copper tokens rather than wait for an adequate supply of imperial coinage. Queensland had only separated from New South Wales in 1859, and its monetary infrastructure lagged badly behind its sudden administrative independence. These merchant tokens filled a genuine transactional void.

The Gray#149b reference indicates a recognized variety within the series — Ipswich tokens from this period show enough die variation to reward close attribution work.
