The surrounding legend reads CIVITAS DUBLINE, identifying the Dublin mint, rendered in a somewhat irregular Latin script consistent with hand-engraved hammered coinage. The flan edges are uneven and the strike is off-centre in places, typical of the Dublin Mint output of this period. The cross extends to the coin's edge, dividing the inscription. |
