| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing crowned bust of the king, rendered in the Short Cross style, with the crown typically bearing seven pearls. Chin and side whiskers are formed by small pellets, while the hair is depicted as two or more non-parallel crescents flanking the face on either side. The king holds a sceptre to the left. A beaded inner circle frames the effigy, and the royal legend HENRICVS REX runs around the periphery, retaining the name of Henry II as was conventional throughout the Short Cross coinage despite the reign of Richard I. |
