| Obverse description | Facing crowned bust of Prince Henry depicted in the Romanesque style typical of 12th-century Anglo-Scottish coinage, wearing a jewelled crown with fleurs and pellets. The effigy is rendered in low relief with stylised facial features, a beaded collar visible at the neck, and a sceptre or cross held to the right. The legend, partially legible due to the irregular flan, runs clockwise around the periphery in Roman capitals. The field surrounding the bust is flat and unadorned, consistent with hammered silver penny production of the period. |
