Obverse description Central field bears the colonial coat of arms of Queensland, featuring a quartered shield displaying a bull, a sheaf of wheat, a ship under sail, and an anchor, surmounted by a rising sun. The shield is supported by an emu on the dexter side and a kangaroo on the sinister side. A scrolled banner below the shield carries the motto ADVANCE AUSTRALIA in relief. The legend QUEENSLAND arcs along the upper periphery, and the date 1865 appears in the lower field, all within a dentilated border.
