Reverse description The reverse displays the royal shield of arms quartered with the lilies of France and the lions of England, set upon a long cross fourchée that extends to the beaded inner circle, dividing the field into four quarters. The shield is rendered in the typical Tudor hammered style with clearly defined heraldic divisions. A mint mark appears above the shield. The surrounding legend CIVI TAS DVR RAM identifies this coin as an issue of the ecclesiastical mint at Durham, struck under the authority of the Bishop of Durham.
